Crozet Volunteer Fire Department

Since Albemarle County Fire Rescue no longer publishes their own press releases, the County of Albemarle Communications and Public Engagement (CAPE) office now has this responsibility and has taken the position to not recognize volunteer fire departments and rescue squads that respond to calls for service in their releases.
YOUR volunteer fire departments and rescue squads answer thousands of calls per year, providing critical fire and emergency medical services to the communities they serve. As members of the Crozet community and stewards of your financial contributions, we are privileged to report to you on incidents that occur in our geographic area of responsibility.

We are sharing the post from this morning's fire to provide assistance to the Fire Marshal's Office, but we would also like to publicly recognize and thank the following stations, both career and volunteer, that responded to help the Crozet Volunteer Fire Department with this incident:
Western Albemarle Rescue Squad, North Garden Volunteer Fire Company, Ivy Fire Rescue, Monticello Fire Rescue, Seminole Trail Volunteer Fire Department, Hollymead Fire Rescue, and Albemarle County Fire Marshal's Office.** Information Release **

Anyone with any information about this incident, or was in the area between 3 am and 5:30 am is encouraged to call the Albemarle County Fire Marshal's Office at 434-296-5833.

On Thursday, January 21, 2021, at approximately 5:40 am, units from Albemarle County were dispatched to a fire in a detached guest house on Sandy Gibson Road in Crozet.

First responding units arrived on location in twelve minutes. Units extinguished the fire and were able to prevent it from spreading, however, the building is being considered a total loss. Displaced individuals currently residing in the guest house are now staying with friends and family.

No one was in the structure at the time of the fire and there were no reported injuries at the time of the incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Albemarle County Fire Marshal's Office.
